April 2018

April was tough, not all bad, just tough. We lost great-grandma in April. She was hubby’s grandma, and she lived a good, long live. When she passed away she was 91 years old and the past 5 years or so were tough as she had suffered with late on-set Alzheimer’s related dementia. She went peacefully in her sleep and we were able to say goodbye.

She had been a part of my life for the past 20 years and she loved and doted on our kids. Corey (MDH) is her only grandchild and our children were her only great-grandchildren. Ashley, our 15 year old, had a special bond with her and when we were going through photos, the two of them popped up over and over again.

As I said, April wasn’t all bad, my aunt and uncle were visiting from Germany and we were able to spend some time with them and show them our new house. The last time they were here we were still in the middle of renovating and the pool was a giant hole in the ground.

April also brought some soul-searching due to work stress which was no fun but looking at it in hind-sight I can say that it ultimately was for the best. More on that later...
