September 2018

The school year starts mid-August for us but I still consider August summer. I started a new position at school in our media center and I love helping the students, and from time to time teachers, with their tech questions. There’s no stress, other than students acting up occasionally in independent study, and I love my new co-workers who are so supportive and just a joy to work with. It’s a far cry from my previous position. Which I truly enjoyed but in the end things were just too much for me to handle and I have no regrets about making the move to a new department.

And how did this happen? It’s Conner’s senior year in high school. He’s busy with prepping for college and all that entails. He had his senior portraits taken towards the end of August and we were told that we wouldn’t get any proofs until at least October but they can super fast. Sometimes I’m truly in disbelief that my first-born baby, my only boy is about to turn 18 and graduate high school in May.

Ashley joined the performance dance team again and now most of our Friday nights are spent at the football field (they dance at half-time), instead of at our favorite Phó restaurant. But we only have one home game left and then we can resume our regular mother-daughter Friday night dates.

Ally turned 10 at the end of September. My last babe is now in the double-digits and growing way too fast. She’s so smart and can tell the most interesting stories. She picked an artist theme for her birthday party and I happened to find the dress on Amazon, sprinkled in among all the party supplies.

We decorated cupcakes, tie dyed t-shirts and the kids then splashed in the pool. Fun was had by all.

We also stopped at the beach a few times to enjoy an evening stroll and I managed to take some photos with my big girl camera. I love how this one of the log turned out.

Ash and her friend also convinced me to get up early one Sunday and watch the sunrise at the beach. I’m usually more of a sunset person, only because I’m not an early bird. :)

These two... friends since Kindergarten. When we moved schools and then to a new neighborhood, they lost touch for a bit as these things go. But now they have rekindled their friendship and it’s such a joy to see.

We also took a family day trip to the keys. We only going to go as far as Islamorada to feed the tarpon at Robbie’s but ended up all the way in Key West and then had dinner at Robbie’s on the way home. And instead of tarpon we ended up feeding lemon sharks. It was so cool.

All in all another good month!
